Job Summary:

 

Industry analysts at Galt & Taggart identify and monitor trends in sectors such as energy, healthcare, tourism, agriculture, and real estate, among others. They make use of economic and industry data for the purpose of researching key industry segments, or the industry in aggregate. They develop a variety of data-driven industry reports for internal and/or external publication.

Responsibilities:

 

• Writing and updating high-quality industry reports in accordance with in-house editorial standards;
• Collecting and analyzing diverse macroeconomic, demographic, and industry-specific data to identify and clearly communicate key business trends;
• Creating standardized data analysis tools and financial models using Excel
• Conducting basic statistical analysis;
• Communicating with relevant agencies, institutions, and companies during data collection and analysis;
• Building relationships of trust with industry players;
• Creating and delivering internal and public presentations;
• Making forecasts and projections based on existing industry data;
• Attending industry-specific meetings and conferences;
• Other duties as assigned by manager.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Education

 

Preferred graduate degree in economics or finance-related fields; strong undergraduate degrees in economics or finance-related fields will also be considered; courses in market research a plus; related degrees considered.

 

Work experience

 

Preference will be granted to candidates with previous professional experience in a business writing-focused, market research, business-analytical role and/or previous experience in the financial industry.

 

Skills, knowledge, personal traits

 

• Effective and articulate communication skills in Georgian and English;
• Excellent English writing skills geared toward business reports;
• Ability to be insightful, objective, interesting and succinct in report writing;
• Excellent presentation skills in Georgian and English;
• Exceptional analytical skills; ability to think logically, recognize patterns, derive conclusions;
• The confidence to stand behind analysis and ability to explain reports to management and clients;
• A solid grasp of economics, financial terms, and business concepts;
• A strong interest in economic news and current events;
• Basic data analytics and forecasting abilities, understanding of financial modeling and regression techniques;
• Familiarity with online research techniques, economic and financial data sources;
• Ability to use computing and data processing skills to collate and structure industry data; 
• Solid experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
• Ability to multitask and pay close attention to detail;
• Ability to work independently;
• A strong work ethic and good time management;
• The flexibility to effectively deal with unexpected assignments, short deadlines, and changes to workload based on management priorities or client requests;
• Openness to constructive criticism.
